"How Does Your Story Start?"
Screenwriting with Johnny Hartmann and A Walk in the Words with Hudson Talbott!
Welcome, Sing Show! Family!
We are SUPER excited to share with you this special episode! This week, we welcome author Hudson Talbott who tells us about his new book, A Walk in the Words. Screenwriter Johnny Hartmann shares with us the process of writing screenplays. Plus, we have a new song inspired by both Hudson and Johnny’s stories!
SPECIAL GUEST: Johnny Hartmann, Screenwriter
Our special guest this week is a good friend and amazing screenwriter, Johnny Hartmann. He visits us from his home office where he is busy working on screenplays for Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and more!
Fun Fact: Mrs. Ray has known Johnny since 1989! He was an exchange student from Germany who lived with her family for several summers! He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, two kids, and a dog named Skye (who makes a special appearance in this week’s episode as well!).
A Walk in the Words by Hudson Talbott
We have had the opportunity to meet and work with many amazing authors for Sing Show! This week, we had a chance to chat with yet another amazing and inspiring illustrator/author, Hudson Talbott!
We spoke to Hudson over Zoom from his home in upstate New York where he writes and illustrates books for young readers. He has written and illustrated over 27 books over his career including a picture book adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into the Woods!
His new book, A Walk in the Words, is a very personal story, and it was a pleasure hearing him talk about this book with such pride!
Our conversation was over an hour long! He even shared some of his process of how his story became a book. Check out the 7 minute “newsletter exclusive” video below!
And don’t forget to visit Hudson’s fabulous, fun, and interactive website with more of his artwork and books!
“The Beauty of the Thing”
This week’s original song is inspired by both of our guests this week! It is a song that encourages us that with any struggles we face, slow down, keep at it, find your pace, and enjoy the beauty of the journey and process!
Speaking of process, here are some shots of my journal pages from the writing process of this song.
