Another week of magical wonders! This week brought a downpour at our studio while filming, and the pitter-patter of rain was caught on film! Yeah, that’s rain… not just white noise!
Mrs. Ray’s Book Bag
This week, we feature author Lisa Frenkel Riddiough and the release of her first book, Elvis and the World as it Stands. The story is written from the point-of-view of Elvis, a cat living in an animal shelter who is adopted by Georgina and her family. While adjusting to his new home, Elvis learns about how to be more resilient and communicate with his new family.
We were fortunate to talk with Lisa this week, and she told us all about her writing process as well as how she came up with the idea to write Elvis’s story!
Oh, did I mention, she also loves exclamation points!!!
Melvin’s Miracles!?
Melvin is at it again, and he has enlisted the help of Gus to perform this week’s miracle! We will see…
“Move Forward”
It is always a challenge to write a new song each week for our show. Some week’s things don’t come together until we are just about to film. This week was one of those weeks. Joshua had found an old autoharp in the garage and tuned it up on Thursday, he began writing Friday, and by Saturday morning, the song was finished.
“It can be inspiring to play around with an instrument that is not one you are used to writing on,” says Joshua. “It takes you in directions that you would not have traveled when writing on your primary instrument.”
We had an idea to do some extra filming and create a “music video” for this week’s new song. We grabbed the cameras and hopped into the car Saturday afternoon just as it started to rain. It was fun getting out as a family and just being creative and silly!
This week’s song was inspired by a quote from Lisa Frenkel Riddiough’s interview. When you face challenges and big problems, “move forward!” The song was performed live, and we cut in our video footage during the final edit.
Enjoy the show!
