It’s our final week of our “Magic” series, and we have had so much fun playing, singing, and performing magic!
“The Bear Song”
We kick off this episode with a “repeat-after-me” song that Mr. Ray has been singing for over 40 years! It was a favorite of his growing up, and we are happy to share it with you. We choose this song because it loosely fit the “escapist” theme we had going on for this episode. We think you will agree it is a fun, silly, and clever piece of song-storytelling!
“The Two Tall Sisters and the Two Short Sisters”
Mrs. Ray tells a story about four sisters who get an invitation to “Come to the Center” for a grand ball! When they get there, they run into a bit of trouble, but with a little teamwork, they have a great time at the party, and they each leave with a special gift! Join her for this paper-folding story, and then watch it again and try folding along!
Mini Maker Moment - “Teeny Houdini”
This week, Isaiah joins us to learn and teach our maker magic trick! It is a classic magic effect that introduces a “teeny” version of the great escapist and magician, Harry Houdini. In this trick, “Teeny Houdini” takes center stage to show us why he is known as the “Handcuff King!”
Mr. Ray has been in love with magic for many years now, and one thing he loves most is making a trick his own by customizing it! That is what we have done with Teeny Houdini, and we hope you and your family add your own style to your version of the trick! If you do, please share it on your social media and tag us, #singshowlive, or send it along in an email. Whatever you prefer!
“The Man Who Fooled Houdini”
Our final song this week is a story song that chronicles the historic “wizard’s duel” between the world famous Harry Houdini, and an up-and-coming magician, Dai Vernon. Houdini boasted that he could tell how any magic trick was done if he saw it performed three times, and he made good on that claim over and over again! Until he met a 27-year-old silhouette cutting artist, Dai Vernon, and finally met his match!
Mr. Ray even performs the trick that fooled the “King of Cards” in the episode. Did it fool you?
We’ll see you next week!
Teeny Houdini is awesome!
